Once the body form and framework have been matched and securely fitted together, the next step is to test the initial fit of the skin to
the body form mount.
Much work is done in the step. Thinning of the hide in the facial and feet areas must be done to accommodate fitting the mold. Areas are identified, that need attention due to muscle positioning, shape and size of the animal. Pre preparations are made for any modifications that will need to be made to the body form to enhance muscle group and to meet measurement taken before the animals finally skinning process. The insure that the finished product closely matches in size, form and detail of when you brought the animal in.
A good taxidermist will take measurement at the time your animal arrives at their shop. This are important reference points for
them once the mount begins to take shape.
Measuring the neck girth, head width, and other important areas, depending on the animal, are important to end up with a finished product that resembles the animal you harvested.
Areas are check and re checked for correct size and shape and notes are made as to adjustment that will need to be made to the body form. Positioning the hide correctly will
determine where the body form needs to be modified.
